A Smarter Way to Access and Share Work in De Facto EDP

|Hints and Tips

You may have seen our recent update introducing Progressive Web App (PWA) and EDP Deep Linking functionality. If you haven’t explored it yet, it’s worth taking a look - it’s a simple feature that can make everyday use of De Facto EDP faster and more efficient.

Install EDP as a Progressive Web App

De Facto EDP can now be installed as a Progressive Web App, meaning it runs like a native application on your computer.

Instead of opening our software in a browser tab, you can install it directly from your web browser using the install icon in the address bar.

PWA appThis gives you:

  • A dedicated app shortcut on your desktop
  • Faster access
  • A cleaner, app-style experience

But the real benefit comes when using Deep Linking.

What Is EDP Deep Linking?

Deep Linking allows you to generate a direct link to areas within De Facto EDP.

Generating a link is simple, the video below demonstrates this by showing the creation of a link to 3 Sales Orders. Once the link is on your Clipboard, you can paste it into an email or your chat application to share with others.

When the recipient clicks on the link they will see the data for which the link was created:

An opened Deep Link in EDPThe same link can safely be sent to multiple recipients because the system will use each user’s security configuration to determine what to display. This means an individual will only see the data they’re permitted to see even if the link you’ve sent them provides more.

Why It’s Useful

Deep Linking makes collaboration quicker and clearer. It reduces navigation time, removes ambiguity, and helps teams move from discussion to action more efficiently.

You’ll no longer have the tedium of saying “Go into this module, find this list, filter by this field…”, you can simply share the link to the exact data.

These links are also used in SSRS Reports meaning you can get from data in your report to the source data in EDP with a single click. For example, in your Financial Transaction Report you can jump directly to a Transaction or Customer record.

It’s a small change in functionality - but one that can make a noticeable difference in day-to-day workflow.
