ERP for Automotive Parts

About

Founded in 1984, MGOC Spares was originally formed to supply parts solely for the MG Owners Club, but has since grown to manufacture its' own products, supplying wholesale to the UK and worldwide.

With a product offering of over 30,000 parts, the classic car experts have grown to become the largest dedicated supplier of quality MG spares and accessories for classic models, supporting projects in restoration, maintenance and enhancements.

Not only this, MGOC Spares also now stock and supply spares and accessories for a variety of other iconic British brands - such as Mini, Jaguar, Land Rover, Morris, Triumph and more.

Challenge

As MGOC Spares expanded, they faced a few challenges:

  • Outdated ERP System: Their legacy software had limited functionality and lacked the flexibility needed for fast-growing modern operations, restricting growth throughout the business.
  • Complex Multi-Company Structure: Required functionality to manage multiple companies/services (workshop, retail, regalia) where stock ownership and profit allocation had to be correctly allocated back to the owning company — a capability many other systems couldn’t support.
  • Lack of Flexibility: Needed a solution that was easy to use and could evolve with the business, offering the freedom to adapt processes as the company grows.

Solution

  • Fully-Integrated ERP System: Covering sales, purchasing, stock control, accounting, CRM and E-Commerce, eliminating the need for multiple disconnected systems and allowing  clear, real-time oversight across all department operations.
  • Zero-Touch Fulfilment: With real-time stock availability and instant pricing updates, orders go directly to the warehouse for picking and dispatch without the need for manual intervention, saving significant admin time and improving data accuracy.
  • Sophisticated E-Commerce: With the business services expanding, MGOC Spares’ integrated De Facto E-Commerce to create a highly functional new B2C and B2C website, that  has been continually enhanced to handle its dynamic product portfolio. Key features include the parts diagram, multi-dimensional product selectors, integrated handling of exchange and repair items, complex delivery charge calculations and many more.

Results

  • Empowered Sales Team: With technical sales advisors now focused on what they do best — advising customers — they build confidence and deliver more value at the point of sale.
  • Maximised Work Efficiency: Seamless ERP and E-Commerce integration allows staff to work at the most appropriate skill level, avoiding duplication and admin-heavy processes.
  • Rapid Revenue Increase: We focused on building a brand new, highly competitive website that spoke directly to their audience. In the last 18 months, MGOC Spares has reported a 350% increase in sales for E-Commerce.
