Mark recently joined De facto Software as our new Financial Controller. We sat down with him to get to know him a bit better.

What do you enjoy, do you have any hobbies?
I’m quite an active person so when I am not working you will likely find me out on a training run for my next event. I have done a few marathons including three of the World Majors (London, New York and Berlin) but my favourite is the Great North Run as the crowd support is amazing. I also like live music, whether it’s a big stadium concert or a local band down the pub.
Tell us about your background
Before joining De Facto I worked at the NHS for 4 years on various finance projects but the main part of my career was at Ipswich Town Football Club as head of finance – best described as an enjoyable rollercoaster ride, including a memorable play off final victory at Wembley and qualifying for the UEFA Cup the following season.
Why did you choose De Facto?
The role at De Facto was just what I was looking for in terms of my career move, being a local established company providing innovative business solutions in the form of ERP and E-Commerce products. They have an impressive set up and a great team of people working for the organisation.
Anything particular you’re looking forward to?
Initially I am looking forward to getting to know all the team at De Facto and bring some of my experience to the role. On a personal level I’m also looking forward to my next marathon in Florence this November. Training starts again soon!
