Job Specification


We are looking for a QA Automation Framework Developer to join our Ipswich-based QA Team. 

The candidate should have excellent analysis skills, good oral and written communication skills, and demonstrable experience in automated software test development, with a thorough understanding of the complete software life cycle: configuration testing, installation testing, performance and stress testing. Sound knowledge and understanding of best practices in testing is essential, as is experience of testing web client applications.


Key responsibilities

  • Developing automation testing framworks, designing and writing automation testing scripts
  • Collect testing requirements, perform detailed analysis, and produce framework design
  • Taking ownership of test process improvement initiatives and driving them through to completion and providing innovative solutions to test automation
  • Analysing test results, identifying and logging, documenting and tracking of defects found during automated testing
  • Work closely with the development and QA team, reviewing feature requirements and specification and helping to meet deadlines
  • Work closely with the project managers to design tests that will ensure the releases goals are met prior to final deployment

Essential skills and experience

  • Ability and desire to quickly learn new technical concepts and tools
  • Experiance developing test frameworks for automation for use with Selenium
  • Experience writing scripted or keyword based automation packs
  • SQL experience (building database queries, understanding database concepts)
  • Experiance development in Python3
  • Ability to understand Object Oriented application structures 
  • Ability to complete detailed assignments accurately in a timely fashion and share the responsibility for meeting team objectives
  • Full understanding of typical software development lifecycles
  • Working knowledge of best practices in testing and quality control processes
  • Ability to communicate results and findings in a clear and concise way
  • Proficient analytical skills with the ability to provide recommendations for process improvements
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex business systems
  • 1-2 years Quality Control Assurance experience

Desirable skills and experience

  • Use of Robot Framework
  • Use of jMeter
  • Use of Jira
  • Use of Jenkins
  • Use of SVN
  • Testing of large SQL based applications
  • Understanding of the use of Meta Data to control application
  • Testing ERP software
  • An ISEB Foundation in software testing, or equivalent qualification
  • Working within Agile scrum team
