UK Processor of Industrial and Engineering Plastics was early adopter of new BI module.
 |
Oadby Plastics was one of the early adopters of the de Facto S5 Business
Intelligence module, which offers advanced analysis and reporting capabilities in a powerful yet extremely easy to use format. |
Jit Chouhan, Group Financial Controller at Oadby Plastics shared
how they are using de Facto S5 Business Intelligence: "We've had de Facto S5 for around a year when we decided to invest in the then new Business Intelligence module. Implementation was very straightforward, and with De Facto's support, we were quickly up and running with the reporting facilities we needed, and without any problems.
The main reason we looked at Business Intelligence is because we knew that the user interface was extremely friendly and non-technical, and that it would allow us to generate reports with the minimum of difficulty and the maximum of timeliness and accuracy. We often develop new reporting needs, and BI is very good at enabling us to generate ad-hoc and new reports.
The interface is very simple. When we try something new, we just give it a go, and if anything isn't quite right, it's straightforward to make modifications ourselves to fine tune it to our needs. We don't need to ring up and ask De Facto to do anything - it's all in our hands and control. Of course, De Facto Software are there if we have difficulties with the cube, or suchlike, but generally it's a tool which is under our control. It's easy to push out the reports we want, as we want them. |

A number of the senior management at Oadby Plastics utilise BI, as well as myself as Financial Director. In particular, the Sales and Marketing Director and the Managing Director of Production make heavy use of it. I'd say we have around 30 reports each coming out of the Business Intelligence module.
We build our data cube overnight, like most companies, and therefore ensure that the data we have behind our analysis and reporting is both up to date and accurate. The cube contains a very wide range of information, such as Sales, Nominal, Labour and Sales Order data. For us, it's the speed with which we can get reports out which is the central benefit of BI. We get information as and when we want it, which is the ideal. Once we've got it, we can easily export it into Excel, which we find really useful.
You could say that as a company we work almost as a TeleSales operation. We take orders over the phone and sell at that point in time, and need to get the orders out by next day latest. As such, we can't act on 2 week old data, so Business Intelligence is ideal for our mode of operation. It also helps us to avoid future issues too, as ...
Business Intelligence is a powerful tool that is extremely easy to use, and one that suits our business model and operations" concluded
Jit Chouhan.
