Facto Software is pleased to announce the
release of version 5.0 of de Facto S5 Accounting and ERP software.
The latest release of de Facto S5 features a number of enhancements
which provide the user with increased functionality. Further
enhancements focus on ease of use, leading to greater efficiency
of operation
and consequent gains in productivity.
Some
of the key developments in v5.0 are:
Logistics Enhancements
Filing Cabinets on Lot / Serial Number Records
de Facto S5 filing cabinets offer a fully integrated document storage and retrieval
solution. This allows the definition of a series of folders within each
category of filing cabinet. Cabinets are available for all main record
types such as customers, suppliers, products, orders, jobs, projects etc.
The latest release of S5 includes a new facility for Filing Cabinets on
Lot/Serial Numbers records.
Unit of Measure Maintenance, and Picking Zones / Controls
1 - Picking Controls
New Picking parameters are available to allow SQL statements to override the normal stock physical selection process.
2 - Unit of Measure Maintenance
Units can now be entered in an easier to use pallet / floating style window.
3 - Picking Zone Usage and Pick Types
A new lookup list of 'Picking Unit Types' is available from stock control lookup codes.
Tracking Groups - Choice Lists and Default Values
Each tracking group element can now have a choice list and default entry defined.
This can be used to ensure data conformance during any stock receipts of products
which are flagged for tracking.
Purchase Order Processing - Logistics Enhancements
ASN - Advanced Shipping Notification
The term and acronym are somewhat misleading, arising out of the industry misuse of the original function of providing Advance Shipping Notifications of goods 'on their way', something De Facto has long handled on sales deliveries using EDI to major supermarket distribution centres, for example.
This new development allows the user to receive goods, unload them and put them away in the warehouse without knowing precisely where they came from. The process creates Goods Received Notes which can later be linked up against purchase orders, once the origin is known.
During this process the system creates 'ASN stock' which may be subject to normal warehouse movement functions but not sold, as the linking of the ASN to a GRN effectively establishes ownership and cost.
Sales Order Processing - Logistics Enhancements
Customer Enquiry
A new Sales Order Module option is now available. 'Enquiry' allows you to begin a conversation with a customer and to obtain product price and stock availability information prior to deciding if the enquiry is to be saved as an order or as a quotation. This enhances the flexibility and efficiency of Sales operations.
Picking Filtering using Vistas
A new Picking option allows Vistas to be used to filter the order lines (expediting) which are to be auto picked from the selected orders. This simple option can be used in quite powerful ways, especially when considered in conjunction with order schedules, etc.
Sales Order Commitments
This function allows the user to look ahead to see whether stock will be available by the promised dates on Sales Orders. The checking can be done either automatically or manually, depending on the settings.
Stock - Logistics Enhancements
Use of Splitting within Warehouse Transfers
The 'split physical' option that can be set on the product window will now be used within transfers of stock made using stock and warehouse transfers.
Stock Rotation Numbers
S5 v5.0 introduces a new concept of a Rotation Number on stock transactions details and physicals. This is used above the physical ID when picking stock. The rotation number is maintained whenever one physical is created from another, i.e. through transfers, splitting, credits based on sales, any reversal or cancellation of transactions, etc.
Rotation numbers are visible in Expediting, Trace and Transaction History windows, and in the Trace Report.
Rotation numbers are also visible when crediting a sale, allowing the selection of the appropriate rotation number.
Picking stock now uses rotation number order above the physical number order when sorting the list, before picking the stock. Stock with the lowest rotation number is picked first. The Manual Picking window shows the rotation number as does the Batch Advance Pick Allocation window.

Warehouse Management System (iWMS) Enhancements
Hand Held - Product Enquiry
The new WMS Module includes a Handheld Product Enquiry window. The user enters a Product Code, and if this is validated, the window will display a list of locations for that product. Upon choosing one, this window closes and the Location Query HH window will open with the location you have selected in the list displayed.
Hand
Held - Locations Enquiry
The new WMS Module includes a Handheld Location Enquiry
window. The user enters a Location Code, and if this is validated, the window
will then display a list of physicals for that location. Upon choosing one, this
window closes and the Product Query HH window will open with the product you
have selected in the list displayed.
Financials Enhancements
Ledger Account Enquiries
1) The Sales Ledger Transactions window and the Purchase Ledger
Transactions windown now have a new column to the right of
the 'Outstanding Amount' column,
which
shows:
- A Running Balance, showing 'how much is owed by a particular date'.
2a) The Sales Ledger Transactions window shows aging summary.
2b) The Purchase Ledger Transactions window shows aging summary.
3) The Sales Ledger Allocation window has button for Credit Control and Transaction notes.
Admin Enhancements
Full Additional Tables Window Design Capabilities
The Document Modifier application now allows users to further modify the windows used to maintain customised data tables.
General
Enhancements
SMS Print Destination
A new SMS document output destination is now available, which
requires subscription to a third party service. A new SMS
Providers setup option is available in the Administration
Parameters. The application of this new feature is suitable
for tasks such as despatch notifications, etc.
